I know that as someone with a fear of flying you will be seeing news reports on the accident that occurred last night in Buffalo, and using it as an excuse to associate flying with being unsafe.

It’s not your fault, and you will not be the only one. You cannot allow your imagination to take control as it will only serve to worsen the situation, and will imprint these negative thoughts into memory. It’s important that you deal with facts only.

Snow and ice can cause havoc for an airline, and we all have our part to play in ensuring the safety of our passengers in these weather conditions.

Seems like a good time to write this as I’m sat in my house listening to gale force winds hammer the windows outside! Makes me want to go flying!

Strong winds can cause some ‘exciting’ take-offs and landings. At lower levels, wind can cause the aircraft to sway back and forth, but the pilots are well trained for this.
