Well, now that I’ve decided to start this blog I guess I should really be thinking about what the hell I’m going to write about! Struggling already…….

Seriously though, I don’t know where to start! At the beginning I guess.

I’ve worked in the aviation industry for many years now, and at more than one airline. It’s all pretty much the same. There are good days, and bad days, but one thing is for sure – it ain’t as glamorous as many people think it is.

When you are scrubbing a toilet, or attempting to clean up someone’s vomit, it’s normal to ask yourself

Why am I doing this?!

The simple answer is – we love it. The ones that don’t leave pretty quick as it’s certainly not a job for the weak. You’ve got to have a passion for it.

Personally, I love flying. I have an obsession for it. Seriously! I’d fly every day if I could. I’ve always thought there is something pretty cool about being 7 miles off the ground, and it’s definitely where I’m happiest.

In fact, it’s fair to say that I am obsessed with commercial aircraft as a whole. I could quite happily watch planes land and take-off all day. I’m not a plane-spotter though as I have no interest in registrations and suchlike! I’m just in awe of such beautiful and powerful machines.

Let’s be honest, with todays security situation there is no other way I could get into the cockpit of an Airbus mid-flight without being a pilot (which I’d love to do if I had enough cash to afford the training!).

That’s my first reason for doing my job. The second being; I love people – even the ones I don’t like. Hmmm. Does that even make sense?!

I mean that even the idiots onboard amuse me. Some people get angry when a passenger is rude to them, or acts like a prat. I don’t – it makes me laugh. I’m a people person, and enjoy learning how to interact with different kinds of people. I change my personality depending on the route I’m flying that day, and the passenger I’m speaking too.

I class myself as a relatively intelligent person (I said relatively before you start picking out all the mistakes I’ve probably made with my grasp of the English language!). I’m not shy, but not over-confident. I guess semi-confident is where I’d put myself if I had to categorise it.

That’s a little bit about me, and why I do the job I do. I can’t speak for all Flight Attendants, as we are all different. But I look forward to writing more about my insight on the aviation industry, and my little life!
